Kids Voting Kansas Launches Groupon Campaign

Kids Voting Kansas and G-Team (http:www.groupon.com/g-team), the philanthropic arm of Groupon, announce the launch of a local campaign to raise money for election packages that will be distributed to local schools to spur an increase in voting and civic engagement among youth for future elections. Each package contains a variety of voting materials including personalized ballots and supplies for an election-viewing event. The voting materials will help schools mirror current elections to prepare students for their first real voting experience with hands-on activities. The program also encourages students to engage with current events by promoting news consumption and deliberative discussion.

The Kids Voting Kansas campaign will be available on Groupon’s Kansas City/Topeka/Lawrence G-Team page beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 3 through Thursday, Jan. 5.

Join G-Team and donate $10 to help encourage civic engagement among youth. If G-Team members raise $300, then Kids Voting Kansas can distribute three election packages to local schools with voting materials, ballots, and election-viewing supplies to teach youth about voting. Each additional $100 raised will fund another election package.

“We are excited to employ the collective action model of G-Team to raise support for Kids Voting Kansas,” said Emily Bradbury, executive director. “We look forward to creating a new awareness for Kids Voting Kansas as one of the first local organizations in Kansas to be featured on G-Team.”

100% of the G-Team campaign proceeds will be used to provide election packages to selected participating schools.
