OUR STORY
Kids Voting – Northern Shenandoah Valley (KV-NSV) is a non-partisan, non-profit organization 501(c)3 dedicated to educating young people about the importance of voting. KV-NSV seeks to create opportunities for children in our area to better understand living and participating in a democracy. The program is first introduced to student in the classroom through the Kids Voting USA Curriculum. The K-12 compilation of activities is a widely praised, action-oriented document. Its goal is that each student, through firsthand experience, develop information-gathering skills that aid in critical decision-making regarding issues effecting our democratic process. On election day, kids go to the polls with a parent or guardian and vote at the Kids Voting booth on the same issues as adults. Results are reported by the news media just as official adult election results are reported.
