OUR STORY

Kids Voting North Alaska, one of the first affiliates of KVUSA, traces its beginnings to the 1992 Presidential election. We became Kids Voting North Alaska in 2001, which allowed our organization to deliver the Kids Voting program to all students- public, private, and homeschool- in the Fairbanks North Star Borough. Our program is unique in that students have voted in a mock election- presidential, general, or local- every year since our inaugural 1992 election. Over the years our program has also grown to provide many avenues for civic engagement, including contests, scholarships, and a teacher mini-grant program to promote voting literacy in classrooms.
